Human Centered Holdings applies to steward .human

Frisco, TEXAS, Sept. 09, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Human Centered Holdings has applied to ICANN for .human, a proposed generic top-level domain reserved for people. The filing is part of the 2026 new gTLD round, the first in fourteen years.

A name space with a real legacy for people, a name that means a human.

The intention is stewardship of a namespace, not the launch of a platform. Where existing suffixes tend to mark commerce, institutions, or machines, .human is meant to represent a person: a durable public name, and later a site and a mailbox, held in trust for the people who will use it. The company describes that work the way a conservancy describes land. Ownership, in this frame, is a responsibility rather than a license to extract.

“The digital world I had spent my career helping to build had begun to drift away from the principles I believed should guide it,” said Justin O’Mara Henning, founder and manager of Human Centered Holdings. “There was room, and need, for a holding company that operates at a different cadence and works to a different definition of success.”

The application is in review. ICANN has not delegated the string, and award is not a given; the public list of applications is expected around mid-October, after administrative check. If .human is awarded, Identity Digital would operate the registry, and the usual sunrise and trademark processes would apply. Delegation, if it comes, is more likely in 2027 or 2028.
